This uncommon Appletini is a tip-top temptation created to get one’s teeth in as the clock counts down to the year’s final pips.
It’s an apt NYE cocktail from one of London’s most notorious hedonistic hangouts, Disrepute Bar, who describe the tipple as appley, boozy and long lasting.
The team have crafted the lingering concoction in homage to Lola Dunsworth — the original, fun-loving creator of this classic fruit-forward martini.
It’s also been fashioned to accentuate the bite of windfall organic apples in the Broken Clock Vodka recipe and the cocktail crammed to the core with crunchy apple tangs.
Our awfully English vodka is combined with 30 & 40 Cider Eau de Vie, Jules Gautret Pineau des Charentes Blanc and a homemade English apple cordial — making it just the potation to pluck from the Disrepute menu as you see in the New Year with the apple of your eye.
Start by pre-batching the cordial. Begin by clarifying the apple juice by running it through a coffee filter paper. Once clear, add the sugar and malic acid and stir until the sugar is totally dissolved. Filter again and bottle — this mixture will keep in the fridge for two weeks.
For the cocktail, combine the ingredients in a Boston Tin with plenty of ice and shake until very cold. Strain into a chilled martini coupe and serve.
